How it works
One Sentence In. A Video Out.
Softer writes, voices and designs your video in your brand, builds it in code, and changes anything you ask for in plain words.
Make your first videoHow it works
Describe. Watch. Refine.
- 1
Describe
Type or dictate one sentence: the product, the audience, the moment. Or paste a script you already have. Pick 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 and how long it should run. Add a deck, PDF or screenshots if you have them.
“A 30-second vertical teaser for our new Slack integration, for ops managers.”
- 2
Watch it build
The agent writes the script, records the voiceover as one continuous read, adds a music bed and designs and animates every scene as code, on your brand, with word-timed captions. The preview builds live in front of you.
Script → voice → music → animation → captions
- 3
Refine and export
Ask for any change in plain words, to the script or the picture, and it re-renders; the voice, captions and animation re-time to a new script. When it's right, export a 1080p MP4 for your site, your launch post or your changelog.
“Faster intro, and end on the pricing page.”
Who writes the script? Either of you.
Every route stays editable in words.
Softer writes itDefault
From your one-sentence brief, paced to your length, one idea per beat.
Paste your own
A finished script is used word for word, exactly as you wrote it.
Bring a rough draft
An outline or a messy first pass. Softer tightens it into a timed script.
Then change it by asking: “make the opening punchier”, “cut the second paragraph”. The voiceover, captions and animation re-time to the new script.
Edit by conversation
Not a Video Editor. A Designer You Brief.
There's no timeline to learn and no scene editor to fight. You give notes in plain words, and Softer changes the script, voice, scenes and timing to match. It can, because every video is built as code, so all of it stays open to change.
Change it by asking
Give notes the way you would to an editor. Softer changes that part and re-renders. On paid plans, edits inside a video are unlimited.
You: Make the intro faster and say “approval rules” instead of “workflows”.
Softer: Shortened the intro and updated the script, voiceover and captions. Re-rendering the preview.
You: Show the Slack notification before the dashboard.
Softer: Swapped scenes two and three. Preview updated.
Illustrative example.
Branch it with Reuse
One sentence makes a new version for another language, audience, voice or format. The original stays exactly as it was.
Ledgerly launch · 16:9 · 60s
Original, untouched
“Reuse in German”
German script, voice and captions
“Reuse for developers”
Same product, technical angle
“Reuse as a 30s vertical”
9:16 cut for Reels and LinkedIn
“Reuse with a warmer voice”
Same video, new narrator, re-timed to the read
Code-based video
Built Like Software. Not Filmed.
Softer builds every video in code, the same way your website is built. That's why it stays exact, on brand and editable forever.
<!-- scene 2 of 4 · 0:12 --> <h1>Invoices route <em>themselves.</em></h1> <p>Set a rule once.</p>
Approval rules
Invoices route themselves.
Set a rule once.
Exact, every time
Text, numbers and your product's screens are drawn precisely. No garbled words, melted logos or made-up interfaces.
Editable forever
Change a word, a price or a screen months later by asking. It re-renders; nothing is reshot or regenerated from scratch.
On brand by construction
Your fonts, colours and logo are the design system, the same way they are on your website. Not a filter on top.
Code-based vs. generative AI video
| Generative AI video | Softer (code-based) | |
|---|---|---|
| Text, numbers and logos | Often garbled or invented | Exact, drawn as real text |
| Your product on screen | An AI's guess at it | Built from your real screenshots |
| Changing one detail | Regenerate the clip, and the rest changes too | Edit that line; everything else stays put |
| Brand | Approximated from a prompt | Your fonts, colours and logo as the design system |
| Best for | Cinematic footage, people, scenes | Launching and explaining software |

On brand
Your Design System. Not a Template.
At signup, Softer reads your website once and builds a brand kit. Every new video starts from it, so the first cut already looks like your product, not like everyone else's.
Example kit for Tallystone, an invented finance brand.
Read once, at signup
Softer reads your website and builds the kit: logo, colours, heading and body fonts, and screenshots of your product.
Your fonts, matched properly
Your actual font where it can be used, otherwise the closest open equivalent. Or upload your own font files.
Every video starts from it
No template to pick and recolour. The first cut already uses your type, palette and product.
Editable any time
Change a colour, swap the logo, add screenshots or fonts. New videos pick up the change.
No silent rebrands
Each video keeps the brand it was made with, so editing the kit never quietly changes a video you already shipped.
| Generic template | Your Softer brand kit | |
|---|---|---|
| Typography | The template's fonts, or a font picker | Your heading and body fonts, or the closest open match |
| Colour | A preset theme you recolour by hand | Your palette, applied as a system: accent, neutrals, background |
| Product | Placeholder mock-ups or stock clips | Built from screenshots of your real product |
| Layout | The same layout every customer gets | Designed for this video's script, beat by beat |
| Where the brand comes from | A brand kit you set up by hand | Read from your website, then yours to edit |

Agency-quality design
Designed Frame by Frame. Never Templated.
Every Softer video is designed and animated from scratch as motion graphics, by an agent that works the way a motion designer does. Here is what goes into a single frame.
- 1
A real type hierarchy
Display, subhead and label on one consistent scale, so the eye knows what to read first. Not a single size of bold text.
- 2
Your design system
Your logo, palette and fonts from the brand kit, used as a system: one accent, quiet neutrals, the same faces as your site.
- 3
Your product, rebuilt as motion
Interface built from how your product actually looks, using the screenshots in your brand kit, and animated as motion graphics. No stock footage, avatars or generated video.
- 4
Type that lands on the word
Kinetic type is timed to the voiceover: captions highlight word by word, and every reveal lands on the word that introduces it.
- 5
One idea per beat
Each beat says one thing and holds long enough to read. The script is paced for the length you asked for.
- 6
The preview is the export
The export is the video you approved in the live preview, rendered as a clean 1080p MP4. No surprises between the two.
From one sentence to a paced storyboard
Illustrative example
“A 45-second launch video for Ledgerly’s approval rules, for finance leads.”
0:00Hook
“Month-end shouldn't mean forty email threads.”
0:12Show (the frame above)
“Set a rule once. Invoices route themselves.”
0:24Proof
“Every decision is logged: who, when and why.”
0:38Ask
“Ledgerly. Start free today.”
Voice and sound
Sounds Like a Studio. Moves With the Voice.
The narration is the spine of the video. Softer records it as one natural read, then times every caption, reveal and cut to it.
Illustrative. Dashed lines: reveals cued to the spoken word. Solid line: the cut, with an optional sound effect.
Studio-grade narration
Natural voices from a professional voice library, recorded as one continuous read. Nothing is stitched together line by line, so pacing and intonation carry from one sentence to the next.
Your names, said right
Brand and product names are pronounced right, in one consistent voice from the hook to the call to action.
Change the voice in one sentence
Ask for a warmer, calmer or entirely different voice at any time. The video re-times itself to the new read: captions, reveals and cuts move with it.
Music and sound, mixed under the voice
A music bed matched to your brand sits under the narration, with optional sound effects on the cuts.
Features
Capture the Brand. Animate the Product.
Everything a software marketing video needs, from one sentence.
Brand kit from your site
Logo, colours, heading and body fonts, and product screenshots, read from your website at signup. Editable, with your own font files if you have them.
Designed from scratch
Every video is designed and animated as motion graphics for its own script: type hierarchy, layout and pacing. No templates, stock or generated footage.
Script, your way
Softer writes it from one sentence, one idea per beat. Or paste your own word for word, or a rough draft for it to tighten.
Studio-grade voiceover
Natural narration from a professional voice library, recorded as one continuous read. Change the voice in a sentence.
Music and sound effects
A music bed matched to your brand, sitting under the voice, with optional sound effects on the cuts.
Kinetic type on the word
Word-timed captions drawn into the animation, with every reveal cued to the voiceover. Muted autoplay still lands.
Every format
16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, at the length you choose. Branch a video to get the other shapes.
Your source material
Upload PDFs, PowerPoint decks and images, and Softer builds from them.
1080p MP4, as previewed
The export is the video you approved in the preview. A 30-second video rendered in about 34 seconds in our testing.
