Industry: cybersecurity

Cybersecurity product videos that look as serious as your product

Security buyers are sceptical by profession. A glowing padlock or a hooded stock hacker costs you credibility in the first second. What convinces them is the product doing its job: a detection surfacing, the story behind it, the fix. Softer designs that video from one sentence, in your brand, with the tension the category calls for.

Updated

Obsidra · Dark, cinematic, tense

Obsidra is an invented brand (a detection and response platform) used to show how Softer treats this industry. The frame is a placeholder until the sample video is ready.

  • Void #07090F
  • Panel #10141F
  • Signal #3DE0C6
  • Frost #E8ECF6
Example brief
“A 45-second launch video for Obsidra's alert correlation, for SOC leads drowning in noise.”
Type
Condensed grotesk, tight tracking. Neutral sans, small caps labels.
Motion
Slow push-ins, alerts that stack and resolve, scan lines
Sound
Low, pulsing bed with sub-bass; sharp hits on the cuts

Why security videos are hard to get right

Most security marketing video falls into two traps. Stock footage (server rooms, binary rain, a figure in a hoodie) signals that the vendor had nothing specific to show. Screen recordings of a live console show too much: dense tables, real hostnames and a pace no viewer can follow. The video that works sits between the two: the product's real look, simplified to one idea per beat, and paced so a CISO and an analyst both follow it.

What a Softer security video looks like

Softer has no house style. Its agent designs each video from your brand kit and your audience, the way a motion designer would. For a security brand like Obsidra, the invented example above, that means:

  • Look: a dark palette from your brand kit, with one high-contrast accent reserved for the signal, so the eye goes where the threat is.
  • Type: tight headlines with a clear hierarchy, and indicators such as IPs, users and file paths set as crisp text rather than blurred pixels.
  • Motion: slow push-ins, alerts that stack, correlate and resolve, and an attack timeline that draws itself beat by beat.
  • Sound: a low, pulsing music bed with optional sharp hits on the cuts, under a calm, authoritative voiceover recorded as one continuous read.
  • Captions: word-timed and drawn into the animation, because most security content is first seen on mute in a feed.

Your product, not a stock hacker

Everything on screen is animated as code from your brand kit: the logo, colours and fonts read from your website, and screenshots of your product. Because the interface is redrawn as motion graphics rather than recorded, what appears in it is what the script says: example detections and invented hostnames, not a capture of a live console. There is no stock footage, no avatar and no generated video anywhere in it.

Example briefs for an invented security brand

One video, two audiences

A CISO and a SOC analyst want different videos about the same feature. Make one, then Reuse it: "Reuse for CISOs: outcomes and risk, less interface" or "Reuse for analysts: walk through the triage view in detail". Each branch is a new video with its own script, voiceover and captions, and the original stays exactly as it was.

Refine it like you'd brief a designer

Ask for changes in plain words: "make the opening darker and slower", "hold on the containment step longer", "say 'identity threats', not 'account attacks'". Softer changes that part and re-renders. Edits inside a video are unlimited on paid plans, and export is a 1080p MP4.

Questions

Will the video show our real customer data?

No. Softer rebuilds your interface as motion graphics from screenshots in your brand kit, and the content inside it comes from the script. Use example detections and invented hostnames, and change any of them by asking.

Can it look dark and cinematic if our site is light?

Yes. The brand kit sets your fonts, colours and logo; the treatment is yours to direct. Ask for a darker, more cinematic cut and Softer redesigns it with your palette.

Does Softer use stock footage or AI-generated video?

No. Every frame is designed and animated as code. There is no stock footage, no avatar and no generated video.
