Use case: launches
Product launch videos, made the week you ship
A launch has one shot at attention. The video has to be ready the day the post goes live, on brand, and cut for every channel you announce in. Softer makes it from a sentence, then lets you change anything by asking.

Why launch videos slip
Most teams know they want a video for the launch and start too late. An agency needs a brief, a kickoff, a script round, a storyboard round and a render round. The typical animated explainer takes several weeks and costs thousands, which is fine for a company-defining launch and absurd for a Tuesday feature. So the video gets cut, or it ships a week after the announcement when the moment has passed.
The other route, filming a screen recording yourself, is fast but rarely looks like a launch. It shows the product as it is on your laptop, not as a story with a beginning, a turn and a call to action.
What Softer makes for a launch
You describe the launch in a sentence, for example: "A 45-second launch video for Ledgerly's new approval workflows, for finance leads at mid-size companies." Softer's agent then:
- Writes a script with a hook, the problem, the new capability and a call to action, timed to the duration you picked (15 to 120 seconds, 60 by default).
- Records the voiceover as one continuous, natural read from a professional voice library, with your product name pronounced right, and adds a music bed matched to your brand.
- Designs and animates the video from scratch as code: your interface rebuilt as motion, charts that draw themselves, kinetic type that lands on the spoken word. No stock footage, no generated people.
- Draws word-timed captions into the animation, on by default, because most launch posts are watched on mute.
- Applies the brand kit captured from your website at signup: logo, colours, fonts and screenshots.
You watch the preview build live while it works. When it is done you export a 1080p MP4. In our testing, a 30-second video rendered in about 34 seconds.
One launch, every channel
A launch is announced on the website, on LinkedIn, on X, in the changelog and in an email. Each wants a different shape. Each Softer video has a fixed aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16 or 1:1), so you make the landscape hero first and then Reuse it: "same video, vertical, 30 seconds, for LinkedIn" branches a new version and leaves the original untouched.
| Version | Format | How you ask for it |
|---|---|---|
| Website hero | 16:9, 60s | The original brief |
| LinkedIn and Reels | 9:16, 30s | "Reuse this as a 30-second vertical cut" |
| Feed post | 1:1, 20s | "Reuse as a square 20-second teaser, end on the pricing page" |
| German market | 16:9, 60s | "Reuse in German with a German voice" |

Edit it the way you'd brief a person
The first cut is a draft, as it would be from any studio. The difference is what happens next. Instead of a feedback document and a revision round, you type the note: "make the opening faster", "say 'approval rules' instead of 'workflows'", "show the Slack notification before the dashboard". Softer changes that part and re-renders. Paid plans include unlimited edits inside each video, so the last 10% of polish is not a budget conversation.
Checklist for a launch video that works
- Lead with the outcome, not the feature name. "Approvals in Slack" beats "Introducing Workflows 2.0".
- Name the audience in your brief. The script changes a lot between "for finance leads" and "for developers".
- Keep the launch hero at 45 to 60 seconds, and the social cuts at 15 to 30.
- Show one workflow end to end rather than five features for two seconds each.
- End on one action: the signup page, the changelog post or a booking link.

Can I use my real product screens?
Yes. Softer captures four screenshots of your website at signup, and you can upload more images, PDFs or a PowerPoint deck. The video animates your interface as motion graphics rather than playing a screen recording.
How long does a launch video take?
Minutes from brief to first cut, and each edit re-renders on request. Export to 1080p MP4 is fast: a 30-second video rendered in about 34 seconds in our testing.
Can I make versions for different channels?
Yes. Use Reuse to branch the video into a different aspect ratio, length, language, voice or audience with one sentence. The original stays as it was.
